I’m putting my Interlake (hull 799, light green) up for sale.

The boat is in decent condition for it’s age and was actively raced until we moved in 2016. The rigging, blocks, cleats, etc. have been upgraded to modern Harken equipment. Has roller furler, Cut down trunk, old styel (foam, not tanks) flotation. The control systems have modern-style purchase systems. There is a set of club racing quality main and jib, a nicer 2015 dieball main and jib, a couple decent spinnakers and a club- racing quality spinnaker. Comes with top (boom up) and bottom cover. Trailer is very solid, boat rides low on it. Has new tires (2016) and a spare. I may be able to deliver to a regatta (and crew for the new owner if desired). Boat is in storage but I can access to take photos if needed. Boat is located in Grand Rapids, MI

Price: $3,000.

GTYC Nationals Day 2 report

Good wind and good racing on day two of the nationals after a blowout on day one. Four races today, and kudos to the RC for handling the shifty conditions and keeping the racing going. After a hard day on the water the weary sailors came in to enjoy the delightful buffet banquet dinner. Looking forward to tomorrow and at least two more races tomorrow and crowning a new champion.

Chief’s Regatta, Leatherlips YC, May 2-3, 2015

Two days of challenging wind conditions tested 22 teams visiting the Scioto for the first Traveler’s event of the summer season. Congratulations to Tim Boucher and John Dunham for a convincing win with strong finishes in each of the four races. Bunched together behind were Team Aspery (Steve and David) and Cindy Elmore with her crew Dick Evans and Carolyn Tanner. Rounding out the top five were another family team of Scott and Rick Savage and Steve Nearing with Dave White.

Everyone is looking forward to a great season of racing! See you all on Lake Erie for our next few events.

Indian Lake Regatta Day 1 Report

A great first day of sailing at Indian Lake, where the building breeze permitted the Race Committee to squeeze in four races, the last in a breeze of 15-17 with the sailors working hard to drive through the light chop. The Committee set a windward leeward course, two times around with the start and finish in the middle, leading to races with lots of changes of position, particularly on the long beat and two long runs. An added wrinkle was that, with a smaller Lightning fleet also racing the same course, the line was closed and considered an obstruction on the long beat and two long runs, allowing the competitors to use it as a “pick” to control competitors, or to get a split, leading to many tactical possibilities.

The first race was won by Lee Sackett, the second by Steve Aspery, the third by Mike McClinchie and the fourth by Tom Humphrey.

After 4 races the standings were:
Lee Sackett – 7 points
Mike McClinchie – 9 points
Steve Aspery – 15 points
Bill Sanderson – 19 points
Tom Humphrey – 20 points
Steve Nearing – 24 points
Mark Boucher – 26 points
Dan Graf – 34 points
Chip Wood – 37 points
Ben Terrien – 38 points
Ron Seiter – 45 points
John Eckels – 48 points
Pat Tynan – 49 points
Bill Monsma – 51 points
Mike Lewis – 59 points
