The Indian Lake YC Regatta was held July 12-13. This event had it all. We had great hospitality as always from Fleet #10, great wind, a great race committee and of course the world famous ILYC fish fry on Saturday night.
The racing was very competitive both days. Saturday had a lot of power boat chop which meant keeping the bow down and the tell tales streaming back on the jib. Bill Smith my crew kept saying all day “drive the boat, don’t pinch”! On Sunday the wind in my opinion was a little stronger than Saturday. Tom Humphrey, Bruce Tran and Mike Scott made it look easy winning the last three races of the regatta. Having three in the boat enabled them to power by everyone up wind. Well done Tom and team. Lee Sackett and David Kerr are new to the Interlake Class and overall finished second. This team as they get comfortable with the boat will be very tough around the circuit. Mike McClinchie and Bill Smith sailed consistent all weekend finishing no worse than third in any race. This is the first regatta win for this team. Before awards a gang of Interlakers made sure Mike and Bill took a “swim”.
Here are the tracks for all six races:

Well next week is Nationals @ Portage YC in Michigan. Fleet #22 is ready to put on a great event, and personally I can’t wait. Hope you can make it, and if not make sure you enjoy the rest of the sailing season before winter comes back.
