Details: Well we had a very successful 2012 CBR in Washington DC. Martin Howell and Fleet 39 hosted a very successful event. We had 18 boats participate in 2012 and we are looking to increase participation further in 2014. Sailing in the nation’s capital was certainly an experience I will not soon forget. The CBR is a one day keel boat event and our event is two days.
Registration will take place on the morning on Saturday April 12th and will close at 10am. More details about race management are in the Notice of Race. Competitor boats will be permitted to monitor VHF communication from the Race Committee, so please plan accordingly.
It is highly recommended that out of town competitors travel and arrive Friday April 11th. I know several competitors plan to setup their boats on Friday and take a practice sail. Fleet 39 leadership may ask you to park you boat onshore in a designated area. Ideally we want to park close to one another to improve communication and camaraderie. Before traveling please check your trailer and rig to ensure everything is in working order. You might also check to make sure you have your rudder, tiller and other equipment that tends to walk away during winter storage.
We have reserved 15 rooms at the Crowne Plaza @ Old Town Alexandria. This hotel is located 2 miles south of the marina at : 901 N Fairfax St, Alexandria, VA 22314.
