Hoover Sailing Club hosted the George Fisher Memorial “The George” over Father’s Day weekend (June 15-16). There was a great showing with 30 boats on the line! On Saturday the winds were mostly light and shifted between south and southeast. Often the east shore paid off, but I only figured this out on shore while the leaders had a roundtable discussion about the first day of sailing Stu Fisher (skipper) and Matt Fisher put on a clinic all weekend long. Stu had bullets in races 1 and 3. Steve Aspery sailing with his wife Lisa and daughter Melisse and team Fisher pulled away from the fleet in the second race. In the end Team Aspery edged out for the win in the second race.
On Sunday with winds picked up but were manageable. Again we have shifty conditions with a few rain drops. In the fourth race Scott Savage and his brother Rick sailed masterfully and took first place with Team Fisher right behind. In the fifth and final race Stu Fisher sailing so consistent all weekend long again got his third bullet of the series.
Congratulations to Stu Fisher and the Fisher family.
